Qualcomm introduced the second generation of the sub-screen fingerprint scanner

Qualcomm has announced the release of a new version of its ultrasonic sub-screen fingerprint sensor 3D Sonic.

The novelty has a size of 8 to 8 mm and a thickness of 200 microns. According to the creators, this thickness will allow the second generation of the fingerprint scanner to be installed even on the thinnest smartphones.

The updated scanner works with a larger screen area, it is more accurate and easily recognizes “fingers” even from dirty or wet hands. In addition, the fresh sensor received a built-in heart rate monitor, and its manufacturer stopped using silicon in production, which greatly reduced the price of a novelty.

A new Qualcomm 3D Sonic ultrasonic fingerprint scanner will appear in the second half of 2019. Perhaps it will be installed in OnePlus 7 or Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
