The LG K40 is the cheapest gadget in the line, which, unsurprisingly, is the successor to the LG K30, released in 2018.
The price of a new phone from LG will be about a third (or less) of the cost of the company's flagships , and although the specifications are not so impressive, the LG K40 offers a fairly wide range of options and functions.
Release Date and Cost
Some details of the LG K40 have not yet been announced, including price and release date. The phone is likely to go on sale in the US markets, as was the case with the latest generation device. No information is available on the other markets the company is targeting.
LG has not yet announced how much the phone will cost, but we cannot imagine that the price of the device will be much higher than the LG K30, which started at $ 200. But, of course, this is all speculation and the company can certainly increase the cost of the LG K40, so we will follow the news and keep you posted.
Design and display
The LG K40 comes in an all-metal one-piece case, and we think that at the moment the smartphone is available in only one color - blue, which you can see in the photos above.
In the future, LG may decide to include more colors, but only one blue version of the phone was shown at the exhibition . This is an attractive color, and although the phone does not feel high-quality, it lies comfortably in the hand.
The model does not compare with products such as the Moto G7, although with a glass back cover and rounded edges, with a thickness of 8.3 mm, it easily fits in your pocket.
A fingerprint scanner is installed on the back of the phone, which is pretty easy to get when you hold the device in your hands. You may find it a little annoying when you put the phone on the table, but in this case you can use the power button and other ways to unlock the screen.
The screen in the LG K40 is a 5.7-inch IPS with a resolution of 720 x 1440 (HD +). This equals 282 pixels per inch, which is not as good as some other phones in this price category. It is also worth paying attention to the aspect ratio of 18: 9 , which makes the smartphone more modern than some other budget devices that do not follow the trend towards more elongated and narrower screens.
The phone is charged via the microUSB port in the lower part, while the side panel also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Operating system and features
LG offers Android 9 Pie software right out of the box, and it will come with a shell from LG, which will be slightly different from the user interface of other Android manufacturers.
Regarding the specifications, the K40 has a dual-core processor with a clock frequency of 2 GHz, but we still have to find out the exact model of this chipset. The smartphone is powerful and allows you to open various applications.
By default, the phone has 32 GB of internal memory and 2 GB of RAM, which is pretty good, but if you are used to a more expensive device, this model may not be fast enough for you.
Battery and camera
The K40 has a 3000 mAh battery, and given that this is not the most powerful phone on the market, one charge per day should be enough for it.
On the back there is one 16 MP camera. She, of course, will not surprise you, but if you want to take a new picture for social networks , the device will cope with it without any problems.
As for the front camera, the smartphone has an 8-megapixel module, which so far has not been tested.
If the price of the LG K40 is the one we expect, then the device could be a pretty good budget phone.
The problem is that the Moto G7 line has already been released, and this series at fairly low prices has some more impressive features than the LG K40.
- Good amount of memory.
- Display with an aspect ratio of 18: 9.
- The screen is not Full HD.
- Missing USB-C .
