Vernee Reviews

Review Vernee V2 Pro

Vernee introduced a new smartphone for travelers, factory workers and lovers just to break everything.

You can flaunt the latest model iPhone as much as you like, but once you drop such an apparatus into a puddle, it will immediately turn into expensive junk, which you won’t look at without tears. That is why the protected devices of modest, little-known manufacturers in Russia are becoming increasingly popular. Users believe that if they overpay, then for reliability, and not for a recognizable product icon.

Vernee is already making its second attempt to conquer the “protected” segment, and it’s “beating hard” - the first device of the company with the protection, Active, came out a little more than six months ago and has not yet had time to become covered with dust in the windows. The new Vernee V2 Pro is a completely different level. Including the price - the device costs about 17,500 rubles (depending on the store). But just look at the specifications, and you understand that on the scale of coolness he takes a place somewhere between Bear Grylls and Chuck Norris.

We checked the device in business and are ready to share the results with you.

Packaging and design

Although the gadget is strong in itself, the manufacturer decided to reduce the probability of damage during transportation to absolute zero. The device is packed in a square white box of cardboard, so tight that it does not slip, no matter how hard you press it with your fingers or palm. The design is extremely ascetic, but this is rather a plus - the packaging looks stylish and unusual.

Inside the box except the gadget itself are:

  • Power Supply (supports fast charging ).
  • USB Type-C cable (yes, the smartphone is powered by just that!).
  • USB Type-C / 5-Jack adapter.
  • Warranty card (aka instruction).

The case, as well as the protective film, is not included, but when you see the V2 Pro gadget, you understand that for him these are redundant accessories.

A user who previously had no secure smartphones can be shocked by the dimensions of the Vernee V2 Pro. The device weighs over 250 grams, has a thickness of almost 13 mm. A miniature hand has absolutely no chance to reach with its thumb to a distant corner of the screen. But despite the fact that the gadget is frankly bulky, it cannot be blamed for the sloppiness - it does not look repulsive, but, on the contrary, intriguing.

V2 Pro has a minimum of rubber elements - only the corners of the body are covered with thermoplastic polyurethane. The back cover is made of plastic with a fine-grained texture, designed to reduce the risk of the gadget slipping out of the hand. Of course, plastic is not ordinary - according to the manufacturer, this is a military-grade material that has passed 1000 (!) Power tests. The side faces are reinforced with metal inserts.

Vernee V2 Pro is IP68 certified. It is able to work in the temperature range from -30 ° to + 60 °, can withstand immersion in salt water to a depth of 1.5 meters (where it can stay for half an hour), and can cope with underwater shooting. It is absolutely impenetrable for dust and sand, rainfall is not terrible for him either. The front surface is covered with shockproof Corning Gorilla Glass with rounded edges.

The placement of mechanical elements on the V2 Pro is far from traditional. The device lacks a standard headphone jack, so the top edge is completely empty. At the bottom there is only a USB Type-C connector, to which just the headphones can be picked up (using the adapter from the kit). On the right are massive Power and volume keys. On the left is an additional button with which you can quickly take screenshots or photos (depending on which application is activated). Also on the left side is a slot for SIM-cards and flash drives, which can be removed without a needle - just picking up with a fingernail. The slot is combined, so putting 2 SIM cards and a flash card does not work right away.

There are no complaints about the quality of the assembly. You will spend hours searching for some kind of minimal flaw, but all this will be futile. All components are perfectly fitted to each other - there are no backlashes and gaps.

The 5.99-inch full HD V2 Pro screen occupies over 81% of the front surface. There are often complaints about the image quality on displays covered with protective glass , but this does not apply to the new product from Vernee. The picture on the screen is strikingly clear and remains so at any angle you look at it. Watching videos in HD quality is a real pleasure.

The disappointment was that only one parameter of the picture can be adjusted - brightness. Contrast, color temperature, white balance, and other parameters cannot be customized. There is a useful feature called “ Adaptive Brightness ”, which saves battery power, but there is no “ Reading Mode ” - which will certainly upset book lovers. V2 Pro e-reader is not an alternative.

If before manufacturers chased megapixels, now this race has reached a new level - now the priority is the number of cameras. The Vernee V2 Pro has as many as 4 - 2 in the front and 2 in the back.

The cameras of the main unit have a resolution of 21 megapixels and 5 megapixels, differ in fast phase autofocus (works in 0.03 seconds), as well as aperture f / 2.0. In the daytime, the pictures on the rear camera are very clear and juicy - not every pro will be able to find a flaw. But when shooting in conditions of lack of light, the flaws are striking - the clarity is not the same, illuminated fragments appear.

These problems can certainly be eliminated by “digging through” the photo settings - there is a Pro mode, for studying which you can kill the clock.

The front camera impresses only with the resolution of its photosensors (13 megapixels and 5 megapixels), but the result is disappointing. It is clear that the device is designed for such an audience that all these fashionable trends with narcissism “on the side”, but in which case why put a second lens?

Performance and memory

Vernee V2 Pro has no problems with performance - it is quite expected, given that the device already has 6 GB of RAM. There is plenty of user memory too - 64 GB in theory, 54 GB in practice (almost 10 GB is occupied by system files and embedded applications). The memory can be expanded by installing a MicroSD flash card (up to 128 GB), but in this case you will have to sacrifice one of the SIM cards.

The chipset is the 8-core MediaTek Helio P23 (aka MT6763V), manufactured using the 16-nm process technology. You can be prejudiced about the “pebbles” from MTK, considering that they are not a rival to Snapdragon processors. We will not persuade you - just give the facts. In the benchmark AnTuTu Vernee V2 Pro scored almost 80,000 "parrots". This is a very worthy result for the middle price segment.

When tested in games, the V2 Pro also proved to be great. Checking with 3D fighting games was excellent: in Tekken there were no lags at all, in Mortal Kombat X the freezing was detected only at the time Fatality was executed. Fresh Asphalt 9 went "like clockwork."

Sensors and software

Vernee V2 Pro is running Android Oreo 8.1 with a proprietary shell manufacturer VOS - which, frankly, we really like it. There are several reasons for this:

  • VOS is simple, clear and familiar. And yes, there is a classic menu, not just desktops.
  • VOS is energy-efficient - thanks to it, the battery life of the device is increased by 15%.
  • VOS is visually minimally different from pure Android .

And finally - VOS has no built-in advertising applications littering the memory. Only a starter pack, without which certification is impossible.

The set of sensors in the V2 Pro is simply luxurious. The device is equipped with:

  • A fingerprint sensor that works flawlessly and unlocks in 0.1 seconds (up to 3 fingerprints can be saved).
  • NFC chip for contactless payment.
  • Face ID function (unlock time - 0.2 seconds).
  • With a 4G CAT Internet module, it can accelerate to 301 Mb / s upon boot.
  • Wi-Fi module operating at 5 GHz.
  • Heart rate sensor (located next to the camera at the back).
  • The Earth’s magnetic field sensor, which allows you to use the gadget as a compass, as well as a pedometer (also known as a pedometer).

Impressive, isn't it? It seems as if the developer managed to equip the device in general with all the sensors that are known in the theory of modern smartphone manufacturing.

Vernee V2 Pro is moderately loud. The developers have bothered to make the sound as good as possible without the use of any special software and outlandish technologies. BesLoudness, the standard Android solution, is responsible for improving the sound on the smartphone.

The "extra weight" of the device is more than compensated by its remarkable autonomy. The V2 Pro is equipped with a capacious 6,200 mAh battery, which in no way can be light. According to the manufacturer, the smartphone is able to "stretch" without recharging:

  • 4 days - with normal, moderate use.
  • 840 hours (i.e. more than a month) - in standby mode.

According to the test results, it became clear: the manufacturer does not dissemble and does not embellish the facts. If the gadget is not strained by games and runs through benchmarks, it really works on one charge for at least 3 days. And with the “ Energy Saving Mode ” activated through the settings even longer - although in this case some functions (for example, geolocation) are not available.

Vernee V2 Pro supports fast charging - the battery is filled up to 65% in 1 hour, fully - in 2.5 hours.

Your humble servant never held in his hand another smartphone that would be just like a wall-hung weapon like the Vernee V2 Pro. There is confidence that now not only cockroaches will survive after a nuclear war. However, the V2 Pro is not only about how to protect yourself from skinhead fellows at night or call for help, being waist-deep in the liquid of a tropical swamp. And in ordinary office everyday life, he can give the user everything that he needs.

Among the main advantages of the device:

  • The operating system of the modern version of Android1 (with a convenient proprietary shell).
  • A huge number of sensors - including NFC.
  • Excellent autonomy.
  • An impressive amount of RAM (6 GB).
  • Clear and contrast FullHD screen.
  • IP68 protection and excellent build.

The disadvantages of the device are as follows:

  • Too heavy - weighs more than 250 grams.
  • There is no standard headphone jack.
  • Combined SIM slot.

V2 Pro - He's Like Jeff Monson. He is only a brutal killer in appearance, and if you get to know better, you will recognize him as a master of psychology. V2 Pro is dressed in armor, but its protection does not go to the detriment of functionality. Unfortunately, there are only a few of these protected smartphones.

  • Guys, I don’t want to upset you, but iPhones starting from model 8 are not afraid of swimming in a puddle) My sister’s boyfriend drowned in Ladoga and it’s nothing, it works) And a friend I shot in the shower in the top ten. They are protected from immersion to a meter.

  • The Poptel p9000 max is an excellent example of good protection, with NFC, modern software and an unrealistically large battery.

    • For active attacks, the Poptel P9000 is not a bad smartphone, but in general it is a lottery, as with any purchase.
